Business Feature - Total Tools
Tuesday 8 August 2017
Set to commence construction next month, Total Tools are planning an expansion of their successful business with their new premises to be more than two and half times the size of their current store in Hume Street, Albury.
With a long history in the retail tool trade, Chris Patnaude and his brother Alex are growing the business their father established in 1987. Now part of a national franchise, the Total Tools group encompasses some 67 stores, five of which have been opened in the last three months.
The location for their new store was an easy choice for Chris, “we felt the East Albury bulky goods precinct would be a good fit for our business” he said.
“We were attracted by the big national retailers such as Harvey Norman and BCF as well as fantastic local businesses like Peards Nursery”
“The addition of Anaconda, a service station and the new Bunnings will take the whole area to a new level and it’s certainly given us the confidence to invest there”.
The new building will offer 2,300 square metres of floor space divided into two tenancies. Total Tools will occupy the larger site with a smaller 600 square metre site available for lease.
On the back of an expanded store Chris will be significantly increasing the range in existing categories with some new lines planned for the future.
The Albury economy will also benefit with additional jobs at the new store following the grand opening celebrations in late 2017 / early 2018.
Chris is positive about the next 12 months ahead “it’s an exciting time for us” he said, “we have a long history with the Hume Street site, but this chapter will create an even better shopping experience for our customers – including much easier parking for tradies with trailers”.
