Final stage of strengthening city heart
Tuesday 26 February 2019
The final stage of Wodonga CBA revitalisation works began in January with the reconstruction of High Street from Lawrence Street to Banovic Lane. The goal of the revitalisation project is to strengthen the city heart as a highly attractive and functional centre for existing and new businesses, property investors, residents and visitors.
Works include levelling out of the road, improved drainage and new street lights and landscaping similar to the northern end of High Street. Three pedestrian crossings will be installed at Sesame Lane, the post office and Woodland Grove.
The project will improve traffic and pedestrian linkages, ensure Wodonga’s CBA becomes a destination and supports local business. The Council received National Stronger Regions Funding from the Federal Government for the four-year works in the CBA. The CBA has recently welcomed a new green space with Richardson Park located on Elgin Boulevard opening in December 2018. The park further adds to the amenity of the area where families are able to gather and enjoy, and includes green space, trees, seating and an interactive water feature.
