Leading Edge Data Centres, a pioneering provider of world class Tier III regional data centres, has announced the opening of its first data centre in Albury Wodonga. The new infrastructure will help boost jobs, creating much-needed digital infrastructure and strengthening the digital economy of Albury Wodonga and the greater Riverina region.
The data centre is part of a highly connected network of data centres across Regional NSW, providing better connectivity options and new opportunities for local business growth. LEDC has invested $7m to open the facility with state-of-the-art technology, which is easily accessible to local businesses.
CEO of Leading Edge Data Centres Chris Thorpe, said today’s opening is a significant milestone for regional cities with this latest development.
“We are excited to launch our Albury Wodonga data centre, which will provide more choice for local businesses and consumers when it comes to high-speed internet and direct cloud connectivity. This digital infrastructure will enable a much improved digital experience similar to a metropolitan city,” Mr Thorpe said.
“It’s more important than ever before for our metropolitan and regional communities to be digitally connected with equivalent capabilities, and we are proud to be delivering Digital Equity to the regions.” said Thorpe.
AlburyCity Mayor Kylie King said the new data centre is an important milestone for the region, enhancing digital connectivity and opening the door to new opportunities.
“This new facility will give existing businesses more options for innovation and growth, whilst enhancing our attractiveness as an investment location.”
“It will bring us up to speed with capital cities like Sydney and Melbourne and allow us to operate more effectively in a global market.”
Empowered by Schneider Electric, the modern, scalable and secure Tier III data centre provides local data centre capacity reducing network latency, increasing internet speed, continuous power and high security. The new data centre will effectively lower the region’s dependency on Sydney’s data centres, bringing direct benefits to a wide range of communities and businesses across the Riverina and allowing national enterprise to now reach a regional market that has traditionally been ignored.
