NEXUS gains momentum

The NEXUS Industrial Precinct is primed for further growth as important infrastructure works at the site steadily take shape.

Earthworks for the crucial Davey Road interchange now outline the final form of the access ramps that will dramatically improve transport access to the precinct.

The $15.8M interchange, funded by the Australian and NSW Governments, will help to unlock the full potential of NEXUS by better-connecting Davey Road with the Hume Highway. This will provide the road transport infrastructure that manufacturers, transporters and other large operators need to make certain the precinct will succeed.

Sewer and gas works are also nearly complete which are expected to further accelerate business development at NEXUS. The works, combined with power and digital connectivity, will provide the high-end services that major industries need in place for their businesses to develop and thrive.

These are critical steps towards delivering the long-term vision of building a 24/7 industrial powerhouse on the 450 hectare site just 10 km north of Albury. The infrastructure works will provide the necessary structural foundations to underpin an investment and jobs boom that is set to generate at least $1.5B in economic activity and create thousands of jobs for local people.

Council is encouraged by a rise in the enquiry rate from industry about potential opportunities for development investment at NEXUS, which follows the recent NSW Government’s announcement that the precinct is now regarded as a Regional Job Precinct.

The declaration will allow Council to work with Governments, business and the community to encourage investment in the site by streamlining planning processes, making the precinct even more attractive to businesses looking to expand into Albury Wodonga.

Meanwhile, construction has also progressed at the most recent facility at NEXUS – the $45M Circular Plastics plant that will recycle the equivalent of one billion plastic PET bottles every year, creating hundreds of direct and indirect jobs while also enhancing Albury’s role as a major centre of sustainability and recycling.

The Circular Plastics joint venture is an exciting addition to NEXUS and an encouraging vote of confidence in the site from the industry-leading partners involved, Asahi Beverages, Pact Group Holdings, and Cleanaway Waste Management.

The success of the NEXUS journey so far is a result of detailed planning and outstanding partnerships between governments and industry. The continual site upgrades help ensure that investors are increasingly attracted to NEXUS and can be confident in the commercial benefits of establishing here.
